As February is the month of love, we’re talking all about how to build a business you adore.
When a business owner is genuinely passionate about what they do, it shows. Even if they have a team, customers can tell whether their passion and values run through the company culture.
Similarly, if there are problems, it shows.
When you’ve fallen out of love with what you’re doing, you lose focus and direction, your team are unmotivated, you’re constantly stressed and everything feels like an effort, rather than something that truly excites you.
Falling out of love with work
There are lots of reasons why once-passionate business owners lose their joy.
Often, it’s because they’ve been so busy working in the business that it’s evolved in a reactive way into something that isn’t quite what they thought it was going to be.
It can also be because they haven’t got any controls in place, which places extra worry and stress on them, or because they don’t realise they can actually build their business in a way that suits them.
This is particularly true in industries where working yourself to the bone is considered ‘the norm’.
Many people start a business because of something they’re good at or passionate about, which is fantastic.
But then comes the ‘running a business’ part, which brings a lot of responsibilities, duties and tasks that they never had any training for – tasks like admin, invoicing, payroll and all the other joys of owning a business!
We know exactly how this feels, because we’ve been there ourselves.
When I first started Fresh Clarity, I said yes to every piece of work that came my way. I priced myself way too low and felt I had to follow the industry norms that had been put in place because that’s how things had always been done.
Taking back control
But there was always a part of me that felt there must be a better way. I took a step back and looked at what was important to me, what I wanted to achieve and the type of clients I wanted to work with.
Doing this gave me a sharper focus on the direction I needed to take, and once I put the right systems and processes in place to support my goals, everything changed for the better.
At Fresh Clarity, we’ve streamlined our business to become fast and agile – using cloud technology means we can work from anywhere at any time and share information with clients wherever we are.
Automating certain processes saves time, money and effort, so we can spend more time working on the thing we love the most – helping business owners like you do the same.
All these actions add up to giving you a much greater degree of control over your business, and therefore your life.
Creating a business you love
One will always impact on the other – and we’ve always believed that you shouldn’t have to choose between having a business and having a life.
Who says you can’t take more time off for yourself?
Why shouldn’t you be able to double your turnover?
And imagine how much more relaxed you’d be if you didn’t have to lie awake at night worrying about cashflow? It’s all possible, and we can show you how.
